Digital media is a double-edged sword. On the one hand, it opens the door for new businesses to double, if not triple, their revenue. Unfortunately, not every company understands how to harness the power of digital media and expand their customer reach.

Simplifies The Shopping Process

Simplifying the shopping process isn’t only about directing traffic to checkout. It’s about making the customer journey as streamlined as possible. Since most people make split-second purchasing decisions via mobile, the checkout process needs to be as simple as possible. No one has the time nor desire to jump through hoops when making a purchase.

Be Present

Even businesses with physical locations can expand their reach online. However, the first step is to identify where the target audience spends their time online. Targeting leads means showing up online where they hang out. For instance, a clothing store will reach more qualified leads on Instagram than they would on Facebook. The key is finding out where to direct attention on social media channels and using them to expand customer reach.

Boost Human Interactions Online

Consumers of today are nothing like they were even ten years ago. Now, they know they can find what they want when they want it in less than 60 seconds. This means businesses need to be more than a static ad in their sidebar. Businesses also need to connect with both current customers, and those are still sitting on the purchasing fence. Human interaction is still the best way to convert leads into sales.

In fact, more human interaction that’s available online, the more memorable a business is, and the more likely that lead is to return to complete a transaction. Even in today’s digital frenzy, people crave human interaction. They want to know that there’s someone on the other side of the screen who will answer their questions without pressuring them to buy.

Put A Face With The Name

Expanding customer reach is far more than setting on a Facebook page or Instagram account. It’s about stepping up and being there for the customer, on their terms. Since communicating on social media is the go-to choice for both Millennials and Gen Z, having a marketing strategy that includes access to a real person, day or night, can dramatically increase the possibility of an in-person purchase.

With only about six seconds to capture the attention of online users, increasing customer reach needs to encompass educating, delighting the user, and creating memorable experiences.
